6 Awesome Free iPhone Apps

Dictionary.com – Dictionary & Thesaurus – There is no better dictionary in the iTunes App Store that offers so much for FREE. Not just that, but this dictionary app will not leave looking for another definition, period. The new update as of 02/2010 put 1/2 a million more words in this app as well as a Spanish word of the day function, very cool.

Alpine Crawler – Traverse the mountainside of the “Alps” with an old style pickup truck. Real time physics rule in this game, so be careful not to flip your vehicle over or get stuck. Use the virtual controls on the bottom of the screen (self explanatory). This app is of course FREE, but there is a paid app by the same developer called Alpine Crawler World.

E! Online – The E! Online is fresh off of a new update just about a week ago and this app “rocks” with new content. There is E! News, E! Shows, E! Photos, E! Celeb’s and a more tab. There is a cool feed that runs up top that aggregates the app as a whole in a running stream. I personally enjoy the new version of the Soup, called “Condensed Soup.” There is another feature in this update that is pretty cool called the “E! Talk Box.” E! Online asks a question once a week in this section and you can video record an answer. If they like your answer they may play it on the E! News show (stardom here I come).

Fingerzilla - Crazy how an iPhone app that you merely tap your finger to destroy city buildings, cars, people, etc is this much fun. I mean really, just take a step back and look at yourself playing, Fingerzilla. A transfixed person tapping aimlessly or aimed on their iPhone. Regardless this game is FUN! You destroy city blocks, eat your boss, knock down helicopters all with the end goal of trying to reach the maximum amount of destruction.

Vlingo – This is a voice to text app that makes the Dragon Dictation app look pretty lame. I used this app to pull up 4 people in my contacts to call and it was about 80%. I also used this for send a Tweet, which worked perfectly and to send an email (bought it through an in app purchase for $9.99, includes email and SMS voice to text). Vlingo is accurate to very accurate, which is different from my experience with almost every other voice command app or voice to text application.

The Weather Channel – Looking for a very good FREE weather app then you will wan to pick this app up. This app has all the features that my Weather Bug Elite app has, but is FREE. You can see a detailed forecast, you can see severe weather updates for your area, view the radar and video if you want. Yes, there are ad’s in this version, but heck it is FREE. Still a very good weather app that lets you track multiple locations. CM
