This iPhone and iPad exercise app is based on the original 7 Minute Workout routine that first appeared in the May/June 2013 issue of ACSM’S Health & Fitness Journal and later covered by the NYTimes. This 7 Minute Workout app also comes with quality YouTube video exercise demonstrations for each of the 12 exercises. These videos demonstrate proper form and give tips on what to do and what not do. Each video comes with short text instruction explaining the exercise as well.
Once you know how to properly perform an exercise, you can jump into the “Start A Workout” mode and get to work. A Siri-like voice will prompt you through the 12 routines that last 30 seconds each. After each exercise there is a calculated 10 second break before the next exercise begins. Exercises in this simple app include: jumping jacks, wall sits, push-ups, abdominal crunches, step-ups onto a chair, squats, triceps dip on a chair, planks, high knees running in place, lunges, push-ups and rotations, and side planks.
