Angry Birds Star Wars HD = Epicness

Whoever decided to put peanut butter and jelly together obviously made an “Epic” food combination choice that continues with millions of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches eaten each day. The new Rovio Entertainment iPad App, Angry Birds Star Wars HD, is defined in a word: EPICNESS, with awesome Angry Birds gameplay reengineered in an awesome Star Wars’ theme featuring 2 full worlds, bonus world, a Jedi World you can unlock — and awesome new Angry Birds (Star Wars) characters. Just for the record, Epicness is a bit larger than epic and the combination of the Angry Birds game and the Star Wars SciFi movie may be as stellar as peanut butter and jelly — one will have to wait and see.

This game is only for the iPad and features 80 awesome levels of gameplay and a variety of secrets, specials, and great characters. The 2 main worlds (Tatooine and Death Star) will keep you busy and a 3rd world “Hoth” is under development. There is also an extra world that you can purchase for $1.99 called “Path of the Jedi,” this world is extra tough and features a powerful Darth Vadar pig, but you are a Luke lightsaber swinging bird, and remember the “Force is with you.” There are a load of Star Wars nuances that even a guy like me, who grew up watching the original Star Wars on the big screen will recognize. There are a variety of bird characters from the Star Wars saga, as well as pigs, and special characters you may find along the way like Yoda.

A bonus world allows you to access extra levels that take from the Angry Birds Space game featuring C-3PO and R2-D2, all you need to do is obtain golden eggs as you play through the level gameplay. There are other secrets, specifically in the level selector area so tap around and see what happens. You’ll also find a character queue where you can see all the characters that appear in the game, too bad there is no name associated with them, at least not yet anyways.

Just when you think Rovio couldn’t possibly surpass their past “top greatness” — they just did because I’m thinking the mass appeal of this game will carry into huge offline sales for merchandise, namely stuffed animals, bedding, figurines, and just about anything else you can screen an image on. The game is super solid, a reinvented Angry Birds game with lasers, laser cannons, the Force, and much more.
