ARDefender – Augmented Reality Defense Game iPhone App Review

ARDefender is a one-of-a-kind app that might be best just to show off what your device is capable of. In the way of replayability, AR Defender lacks quite a bit. Basically you buy the app and it will prompt you to go to your PC and print out a piece of paper with three different sections. There are little squares that you cut out and place on the floor. They consist of a tower in the middle surrounded by black dots. When you open the app and point the camera toward the piece of paper, a tower will appear on the screen. Yes, this means that you can put up a tower just about anywhere. Cool right? Well the gameplay is lacking. Really all you do is shoot at different enemies that come to attack your tower. You can get a few different weapons, but the core gameplay becomes stale quickly. Also, if you don’t have a very steady hand, the game might be difficult for you because as of now if you jolt your device around a lot, it will lose the image of the tower and all you will see is a piece of paper. Overall, it’s a great idea using cutting edge technology, however, it fails in execution. That being said, It’s a great conversation starter, but by no means is it a true hardcore game. Slimothy
