The Android OS platform is starting to catch up to Apple’s iOS platform with great games like Asphalt 7: Heat. While we have already reviewed Asphalt 7: Heat for the iPhone, we decided to check this out on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus Android device and put it through the paces. Overall this arcade racing game is hot — once loaded that is. The initial load time to get the game going is a bit slow, however, once I got inside the game and racing I did not experience any lag time nor weird delays. I did re-visit the slow load time in between races, which definitely did not occur while playing on my iPhone.
Beyond the slow loading there really are no other differences between the Android OS and iOS apps. They both had some graphical glitches, specifically in this Android app video where I drove through another car as if it were a ghost — kinda weird. But, when you’re creating arcade-quality games for mobile devices, the trade off is not that big of a deal, especially for only $0.99. This game is packed with loads of racing content to include: different game modes, 60 different cars to customize, a wide variety of tracks, day and night racing and more.
Asphalt 7: Heat, while not the best Android Racing app, it is the top-selling Android Racing game currently with the best Android Racing game Real Racing 2, a distant 12 positions away in the Google Play Racing category. Both games are very good and a lot of fun, except Real Racing 2 is a bit more pricey. I am looking forward to the new season of apps sure to appear just in time for the upcoming holidays.
