BrainJewel (by TribePlay) is an educational brain-bending puzzle game that features an Egyptian theme, 5 different brain game categories, 18 ancient artifacts to collect, and special jewel power-ups to earn throughout this kidSAFE® approved game. The task of finding intriguing and captivating games that motivate kids to learn is not an easy as thing to do. Normally, the game has to be (above all) fun for kids to relate to and have enough pizzazz to grab his/her attention, and for most parents’ sake — something that is going teach their kid something of value. BrainJewel does just that, this game is one of Facebook’s most popular brain games and is now on the iPad; it has also earned a kidSAFE® seal based on the lack of in app purchases or links that could take your child out of this application, and even better are the various fun brain games that kids can play (Logic, Memory, Visual, Math and Reaction), all of which are timed and challenging.
Each game has a simple visual tutorial before the game starts, then it is up to you to complete as many of the directed tasks as you are given in the allotted timeframe to get the most points, stars, and if your really good, an artifact. The games were challenging for me and were stimulating enough that I wanted to keep on playing — and I’m obviously older than the target market this app was made for. I say this all the time when I come across great kids’ education apps, “I wish they had this type of learning app when I was a kid!” BrainJewel has 2 more un-lockable games inside the app coming out soon and to unlock each next game you’ll have to earn enough stars to do so. While this is definitely a great kids’ game app, I would love to see some time setting options for games and even a practice mode with no time requirements to make BrainJewel even better. Beside being a great game, it’s an excellent value, and it contains a nice user interface for kids allowing them to focus on the games in the app and not on other tangents that take their minds off of the learning fun.
