Budget Balance-Intuitive iPhone Budget Manager App

Budget Balance (by Amr El Rafie) is an iPhone Productivity app that will help you keep track of what you earn, spend, and have as a balance — and reports it all in variety of simple exportable charts. Unfortunately, a lot of iPhone Finance budget apps are not very intuitive, and require a bit of a learning curve to figure out how to properly use them. The other big issue with most Finance apps is that the large amount of time spent typing the information into your iPhone. The Budget Balance app seems to have figured out a way to reduce the labor of entering expenses and incomes, as well as providing an overall easy-to-use interface to make budgeting less painful. The app opens up to an Overview screen, which is a financial snapshot of your income and expenses with a few view options that you can change for month, year, or you can view only expenses, or incomes. The Transactions tab is where you will enter all of your expenses and incomes, as well as see a list view using a variety of filters for all transactions. There is a reoccurring tab that is a queue of all your transactions that reoccur, and the settings tab has a variety of settings that you can change, as well as a very well done help screen — which is very explanatory.

There are some nice extras like Geo location mapping for all transactions, as well as individual transactions, the opportunity to add a photo to any transaction, and unlimited sub-categories for all your expense and income transaction main categories. Having worked with the app, I found the app simple to use, and each time I opened the app, I was greeted with a quick break down of my current income vs. expenses in a handy and colorful blue bar, which would probably be red if my expenses outweighed my income. The app also has a very nice feature in the Report tab that allows you to view all your Incomes, Expenses, and Incomes vs. Expenses in 3 different chart views, all of which can be exported as a PDF. Lastly, you can easily backup your information to DropBox to ensure file restoration if you lose your iPhone or delete the app for some reason. Overall, Budget Balance is a well rounded, easy-to-use budget manager that makes watching your pennies actually enjoyable when using your iPhone.
