Hungry Hungry Hippos – Free on iPhone and iPad

Hungry Hungry Hippos (the classic Hasbro board game) has made its way onto the iPhone and iPad as a new iOS Universal Games app featuring 3 game modes of virtual, but familiar Hungry Hungry Hippos fun. I grew up happily playing the board game version, along with others like Monopoly, Clue, Chutes and Ladders (and many more), but with today’s changing times, a whole new generation of kids can enjoy the same classic Hungry Hungry Hippos gameplay — but in a cool and virtual way. This iPad and iPhone app is totally free. I checked it out on the iPad for the app video review, which features 3 game modes for the iPad: Single Player, 4 Player (iPad only), and 1 Player vs Computer (and 2 game modes for iPhone — no 4 player). The graphics are well done and the gameplay is very similar to the board game, except instead of reaching with your hippo’s mouth for a white marble, you’re trying to get virtual fruit.

Hasbro did a great job when they created this game for the iOS platform. There is no easy way out of this application and there are no in app purchases, just simple Hungry Hungry Hippos gameplay. There are other apps featured in the app, but to view them you must complete a 3-step-puzzle to access them, which should keep most young kids from accidentally entering the web. Hungry Hungry Hippos is a fun kids’ game on either the iPhone and iPad, but surely better on the iPad due to the 4 player game mode.
