The familiar iBomber tower defense gameplay is back, but with a whole new arsenal of tactics, strategies, maps, weapons and enemies in iBomber Defense Pacific (by Chillingo). Chillingo has come out with a sweet follow up to the already excellent Tower Defense game iBomber Defense, now with a new location (the Pacific Rim) and many tweaks that make this Tower Defense game much more challenging. The infrastructure for this game, as in all TD games, is to protect your base (Tower/Castle) from the onslaught of enemy waves, which typically increase in difficulty with each new wave/level. This game actually provides some nice extras like a bonus mission and additional defensive towers that appear to do nothing, but deep down these turrets are your ace in the hole. One such turret is a communications turret that charges up, and once fully charged it provides you a bomb to drop anywhere on the map to take out your enemies with (multiple enemies). Common to tower defense games, your turrets can be upgraded, but in this game there is a “dig in” feature that provides a turret extra damage and increased armor protection, but at a cost by way of a more narrowed shooting range.
The bonus missions are intriguing and not always that easy to complete; basically, you have to protect a location on the game board in addition to managing the many waves of attacking enemies. This game ups the ante in difficulty with the appearance of enemies coming out of nowhere trying to attack your bonus mission location, an extra building that has a health bar. You will have to pay attention to more than the normal attack route and listen for the enemies shooting at a building trying to destroy it, and then take the appropriate action to squash those enemies. Another cool feature for me, being a WWII fan, is the location of battle — especially in the Pacific arena, you’ll defend locations in the jungle and islands with enemies ranging from tanks to battle ships. iBomber Defense Pacific is a fantastic TD Game that plays extremely well on both the iPad and iPhone, so pick this app up today.
