ProCam-Turn Your iPhone Into A Digital Camera!

Turn your iPhone into a slick, easy-to-use digital camera with the ProCam iPhone Photography app (by Samer Azzam). ProCam is packed with a ton of useful features like 7 different camera modes: Single Shot, Anti-Shake, Burst, Self Timer, Interval, Big Button, and Face Detection. There is 1 video mode and 2 different Settings areas to customize your photos, video, and other settings (like timers and button usage). Immediately upon opening this iPhone app you’ll see a user interface reminiscent of many modern day digital cameras. You’ll find a very simple wheel (on the right center side) that allows you to change camera modes or change to video mode if you want — with just a quick turn of this wheel. Inside the camera/video mode wheel is a large gray button that you tap on to take a photo or start your video recording, unless you are in Big Button camera mode, then a tap on the screen anywhere will take a picture (this only works for this camera mode).

Finally, (on the bottom outer area of the circle area) there is a bar that allows you to quickly increase the zoom distance from 1x to 6x by toggling it up for higher zoom and down for less zoom. The next most important area in the app is the information bar (in the top center) and the settings buttons, respectively, found in the top right and bottom left. Rounding out the interface (in the top left) is the button to switch lenses (forward/rear) and in the bottom right is your image queue where your captured pictures and video go. I found this app to be extremely easy to use and in a short time I was able to get up to speed on using this app — even though there is a vast amount of functionality, camera modes and settings.

There are settings for all camera modes including 4 Alignment Grids, 4 Aspect Ratio settings, image quality, flash, and focus settings — some of which can be locked (White Balance, Exposure, Focus). Viewing images is also easy with a slide show mode but is a little slow for me, however, you have the option to swipe through your images — which is much quicker. While it’s nice that you can email photos to others, I would like to see social integration like Facebook and Twitter at a minimum. There is the option to spice up the user interface just a bit with either the black or silver camera theme, which changes the colors of mainly the circle area where the camera mode, zoom and picture taking take place. ProCam is a very good app at a very reasonable price and it has had by far the best zoom quality of any camera iPhone Photography app I have come across to date. In the demonstration video, I give an example of the same view shot at different rates: 6x, 3x and 1x zoom — very nice quality indeed. One thing I was missing in this app was an overall help or FAQ tab, which should be coming to this app in the near future according to the developer. For only $0.99 ProCam is a steal of a deal.
