Sparky the Christmas Elf, by Saffron Byte, is a simple, fun tilt-to-play Christmas-themed casual game featuring one-of-a-kind handmade claymation artwork where you (I mean Sparky) collect as many presents and coins as possible. The different present colors earn you varying point amounts, the coins collected are used to buy powerups, catching shields and magnets are definitely a plus. You can “purchase” thermal undies, lives, magnetic fields, and shields with your acccumulated coin points or with real world money, if you’re impatient.
Now, let’s get to the bad stuff you’ll want to avoid because it will slow you down, deduct points and little elf lives from your score: snowballs, bombs, smelly boots, and of course, the dreaded holiday fruitcake. There are 28 achievements to obtain and 2 leaderboards to compete with others. I Love the unique scenery and two different Christmas music selections that alternate playing in the background. The gameplay is comfortable, enjoyable, engaging, and becomes more challenging and faster as the game goes on. Sparky, the Christmas Elf could easily become a holiday favorite in my house.
