Total War Battles – Real Time Military Strategy Game!

Total War Battles is an iOS universal strategy game set in Medieval Japan that will challenge your military prowess as you battle your way through the up to 10 hours of strategic gameplay. While I have never been big into the military strategy part of real time strategy (RTS) games, after seeing the 1991 US Invasion of Iraq (M1 Tank/M2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle) battle, I discovered a new found appreciation for military RTS games, and even more when Total War Battles came to the touchscreen on the iOS platform. Honestly, this game was not what I had expected. I think that it’s a mix of game types: action game, puzzle, strategy, with a hint of RPG.

The main objective — win! However, to do so you will have to walk through battles successfully so you can gain experience points to increase your abilities, learn how to mangage your resources and get awarded with the more powerful troops to become the supreme power in Medieval Japan. The initial battles are spoon-fed to you to train you up on the basics of troop building, troop movement, resource building management and other important intricacies on how to play this game. Then of course the training wheels come off and you will begin through a first level that has battles where you need to create troops accordingly to complete the mission objective like “take out the general” or “kill 30 enemy troops.” There are also missions where you have to solve a puzzle of how to build X number of buildings for experience points. Additional missions include fast battles that are pre-configured where you have limited resources — basically what you see is what you get.

Total War Battles was not as “Totally Hard” to learn as many real-time strategy games are. The forced tutorial is very well done, but not so boring that you want to jab nails into your eye sockets. The game played great, no crashes experienced while playing on and iPad 3rd generation. There is multi-player gameplay locally (1 on 1). While the game price is on the high side for the iPhone and iPad, there is said to be up to 10 hours of gameplay and the developer (SEGA) indicates they are going to continue to provide updates and new content, which makes the high price seem a little more reasonable. Total War Battles is for the average to good gamer, as well as anyone looking for a great strategy game. Watch the iPad video app review for a look at how Total War Battles plays. Total War Battles iPad App Developer Description

iOS Universal

Specifically developed for touchscreen platforms, Total War Battles: SHOGUN is a new real-time strategy game from the makers of the award-winning Total War series.

Total War Battles delivers quick-fire, tactical combat balanced with intuitive building and unit management. All set in a beautifully illustrated Medieval Japan.

Lead your clan to battle through more than 10 hours of story-driven campaign set in the world of Total War: SHOGUN 2; winner of “Best Strategy Game of 2011” awards from Gamespot, IGN, Gamespy and GameTrailers.

Deploy and manage your bases to generate resources and recruit units including samurai, archers, ninjas and cavalry. Each victory awards XP to spend on building and troop upgrades that could make a decisive difference to your future battles.

Total War Battles introduces a new real-time battle system that feels both familiar and fresh. The hex battle maps allow for natural unit movements and deep strategy. However, as followers of the “Bushido” code of conduct, your units can never turn back – this twist to classic RTS gameplay adds tension and intensity to the action, making each victory even more rewarding.

Introducing an interface designed specifically for touchscreens – drag and drop buildings and troops, swipe across the battle map with a flick, and pinch to zoom in and out.

Play against a friend in real-time on a single device in three different multiplayer modes.

Total War fans will naturally enjoy the intense, deep and rewarding action-strategy gameplay, while more casual strategy fans will appreciate the Zen simplicity of the opening tutorial battles, scalable difficulty level and hint system that will soon make them a tactical master.

This iOS app is designed to scale its appearance for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, which means Total War Battles takes complete advantage of the iOS device that it’s installed on.

We will be improving and enriching the Total War Battles experience, so keep your eyes open for more content and new features coming soon!
