Tower Defense (iPhone) games are one of my favorite genre of game types because of awesome tower defense games like Field Runners, Field Runners 2, and Defense Zone that challenge your ability to strategize and also provide fun action gameplay at the same time. The first Bloons iPhone game came out way back in 04/2009, when the iTunes App Store was relatively young. That game featured 1 dart throwing monkey, while this new Bloons tower defense title (Bloons TD 5) features 28 dart throwing monkeys, and more monkeys for more fun!
There are too many features to list in this massive tower defense game, but the biggest selling point for this game is the 250+ levels of Tower Defense gameplay. There are additional secret missions that you can be unlocked and there is also free-play, as well as several difficulty levels for each game board. The original 10 Bloons titles were developed by Digital Goldfish Ltd, however, Ninja Kiwi has apparently purchased the rights to these excellent casual games and for good reason — they are making money. There are other aspects that make this game a lot of fun like upgrading your monkey throwing dart skills (power, distance, etc.) and research buildings that will further increase your monkey’s dart power.
The only real negative I find in this game is that it already sells for a premium price at $2.99, and Ninja Kiwi has a healthy in app purchase (IAP) store, which I get fundamentally, but the big game publishers are getting too greedy with this type of revenue model. I say let the game play on without trying to suck any more money out of our pockets.
