Trigger Fist – Online Match Shooter – Warm Up For MC3!

Test your urban warfare survival skills against an advanced and realistic artificial intelligence (AI) or with up to 4 online players in the new iPhone and iPad shooter Games app — Trigger Fist. You’ll live the intensity of battle in this realistic face-to-face shooter game featuring 4 game modes, 6 war zone environments, and up to 4 multiplayer game modes. You can play as 1 of 3 shooters (Rifleman, Scout, or Gunner), each has his own trademark weapon and each gains experience points individually as well as globally. The war zone environments range from a cityscape with outdoor restaurants and fountains (having a Baghdad-like residential/neighborhood feel) to underground military facilities — and more.

You will weave and move your way through the different war zones playing 4 game modes (Free for all, Team Battle, Sacred Goat, and King of the Hill) with either AI or real online players. The graphics are decent, but the sounds are lacking to me. Other than the bullet sounds and some other innocuous sounds, there is little auditory pleasure in this app, definitely room for improvement. As you play through Trigger Fist, you can earn experience to unlock weapons, or (for all you impatient individuals) you can buy up to the next weapon each for $0.99 — which can get quite costly. Speaking of cost, apparently, I got suckered into the launch sale price of $4.99 on August 7, 2012, when the app first game out. The app went free on August 25, 2012, and as of 09/01/12, it is selling for $0.99 — which is a fair price. The $4.99 price point was way too high and I am guessing that the developers needed some traction so they went free with FAAD and are now priced at a much better point. Still, with all the in app purchases, this app would probably be better as a completely free app. We will watch and see.

While the game has online gameplay, it is default set to Single Player game mode and if you do not notice, it feels like you’re playing others online, at least this is what I thought by the user interface (UI) — and by the way each game starts. You are put into a queue with randomly-leveled players, each with a name and team association — and then it is off to battle. However, once you go for online Matchmaking or Apple Game Center online gameplay, it is rather difficult to find players. Due to this, the game default adds AI opponents and this becomes more Single Player gameplay. The standard at this time for shooter, particularly FPS iOS online gaming is Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation. Another kink in this game is that when you play with others online, it is only 4 — including you. The game has a lot of potential and room for improvement. While Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation is awesome online, this game is much more difficult and will teach you tactics, which you can then take with you to MC 3 online gaming. Trigger Fist is a fun game, but I want more fluid online gaming connectivity as well as an all online game mode where all players are truly “real people” and not the same AI opponents each game.
