Buying Green isn’t as hard as it used to be thanks to iOS apps like the Vine.com app. This iOS Universal Lifestyle app makes shopping so pleasurable and easy that other shopping apps should be “green” with envy.
The Vine.com app is an extension of the Vine.com website and offers thousands of natural, organic and eco-friendly products for sale. With the mobile version, you can quickly browse, search and purchase products using a handy “Voice Search” and “Scan Barcode” function. And although Vine.com offers only green products for sale, there are several other product websites that you can purchase from as well within the app. And an extra perk, you can shop across all these sites effortlessly because the Vine.com app syncs all these sites, your account, shopping cart, and purchase history.
The Vine.com app comes with a very friendly user interface. All their products are listed in simple categories: Babies & Kids, Household, Grocery, Beauty, Health & Wellness, Pets, Kitchen & Home, Apparel & Accessories, Fitness & Leisure, Gifts & Holidays, and Shop Our Sites. Their partner sites include: Diapers.com, Soap.com, BeautyBar.com, Wag.com, YoYo.com, Casa.com, AfterSchool.com, Bookworm.com, and Look.com.
It’s actually a really nice mix of vendors and products. And everything in the Vine.com app is well categorized, explained and displayed. Each product comes with product information, as well as Green Attributes/Certifications for their green products. And there are user reviews included for each product, when available.
By simply setting up an account, you’ll be able to purchase from all sites using one shopping cart. This one shopping cart system and check out process makes your ordering seamless. When you create an account you can opt to receive special offers and coupons from Vine.com only and/or their partner sites.
Vine.com boasts “Great prices, free shipping, super fast delivery, and 24.7 customer Care.” Well, that’s free shipping on orders $35+, but still sounds pretty good to me. And after you place your first order, the “MyLists” feature (within the app) keeps track of your previously ordered favorites for an even quicker and more convenient shopping experience the next time.
Although I can’t afford to buy everything organic, there are a few things I do get religiously. When I searched for some of the organic, natural products I usually purchase at the store, I found just about everything in the Vine.com app. I found my Dr. Bronner’s Lavender barsoap, which I buy at my local grocery store for $3.49. It was $4.20 in the app. When I scanned my Nature’s Gate Shampoo, it came back at the same price I normally pay at my local grocery store.
Two cool features in the Vine.com app that I really like for easy search are the barcode and voice function. When I searched my shampoo using the bar scan it worked great, however, when trying to scan the barcode on my soap, results came back with nothing. The voice search feature worked perfectly when requesting and finding this same soap by name. For the most part, these functions worked really well for me.
Overall, I really like this app for a lot of reasons: its diversity and quality of everyday green products and other products available, fluid navigation, ease of online shopping, and most of all for saving me time and gas money.
