Wings of Fury (by The Android Machine) lets you fly a Thunderbolt plane through 2 lengthy chapters featuring 24 missions of ground, air, and sea battles taking out hordes of enemies throughout this FREE, Android Arcade & Action game. Wings of Fury has gone FREE with its latest update, which doubled the game levels and introduced a naval scenario to make playing this game even more fun and challenging. You fly a P-47 Thunderbolt through 24 missions in 2 game packs (1-First Strike and 2-Naval Assault, which is new). The missions can be quite challenging as your goal in each is to wipe out, eliminate, and kill all your enemies, but there are twists to accomplishing this.
You fly your Thunderbolt using a throttle (upper left) and a virtual joystick (left) — and your weapon buttons are on the right side. You are armed with a machine gun (unlimited ammo) and your choice of bombs, rockets, or torpedos that you’ll need to complete this game. Each ammunition type comes in a set quantity and once you run out you will need to return to the base to get more. An added bit of replay value to this game comes in a star-rating system for mission completion, and there are 3 difficulty modes (Easy, Medium and Hard). The harder difficulty modes give you less ammo, which means lots of trips back to base or you’re going to need to do some good shooting. I found the plane intuitive to fly and turning was easy, a hard left or right can turn your plane around on a dime. There is landing gear, which you will access from a green button in the upper left area — very necessary for landing. If your plane gets damaged, which it will, you can return to the base to get oil, fuel, and to replenish your bombs, rockets, or torpedos. There is a great help menu to point you in the right direction and that can be accessed before each misson, which I strongly suggest you check out.
We looked at this Android game a few months back when in was a paid app and selling for $1.55. Since then, The Android Machine doubled the content with some very challenging naval enemies, including a Destroyer and Mother Ship that take a combination of different weapon types to take them out, and best of all — this game is FREE — which is truly awesome.
When we did an Android Video App Demo of this app initially, I played the game but didn’t immerse myself enough into it like I did this time around. Wings of Fury is best described as an awesome WWII arcade action shooter/action strategy game that has a ton of FREE content sure to entertain you on your Android device. There are ads, but they are not too intrusive for a FREE app, and you would do well to download this app before the developers come to their senses and start charging for this app again. Wings of Fury has got a nice balance of difficulty in the Easy difficulty mode, but you’re on your own in the Medium and Hard game modes. I would love to hear from you if you were successful in either one of those game modes, just leave a comment below. Be sure to watch the Android video app demo for Wings of Fury for a complete look at this Android Arcade & Action game. Check out our other Android app reviews. Crazy Mike
