Evernote….Swiss Army Knife Productivity App for Almost Every Platform!

iphone app reviews

Evernote is the “Swiss Army” knife productivity app for the Android and so many other platforms (iOS, Mac, PC, Blackberry, Palm Web OS, Web, and Windows Mobile). Evernote has a lot of different functions, but primarily will help you stay organized in your busy world while connected to many devices. Some of the features Evernote offers are notes, photo notes, audio notes, cloud syncing across all platforms, todo’s, search notes, search text in images, and more. I have been using Evernote for a couple of years now and some of my favorite uses for this awesome app are 1) saving webpages for reference later, 2) notes such as airline confirmation codes/reservations, 3) audio notes, and 4) photo notes. While Evernote is great for creating notes, it also allows for separate notebooks to catalogue your notes for easy reference, which can be a huge time saver. The best feature this app provides is the cross platform functionality. Evernote does not care what device you use, Mac, PC, Droid, iPhone, Blackberry, etc., which makes it great for the person on the go. Here is a quick example of a great cross platform use. On the way to a perspective client meeting, you’re on a strategy teleconference regarding that meeting and your co-workers created a whiteboard for this meeting. Unfortunately, you are on the way to the meeting and do not have access to the whiteboard. Fortunately, your co-workers took a photo of the whiteboard using Evernote mobile, added text notes using Evernote on the PC, then shared this with you on your compatible mobile device. Better yet, you made changes in Evernote (realtime) and your co-workers were able to adjust your presentation based on those changes, providing you with a better presentation. Now, the previous example will require a premium subscription costing $5 a month or $45 yearly. But, you get a tremendous amount of other functionality once you go premium 1) sharing, 2) 1 GB monthly uploads, 3) offline notebook access, and 4) top priority support and more. Other Evernote use examples include: access files on your desktop, keep your finances in order by photo copying receipts, and view web pages saved in Evernote using the Mac or PC (one of my favorite uses). Evernote is truly the “Swiss Army Knife” productivity app for mobile phones/desktops and this app plays well together regardless of platform. While most people will only need the free service, if you are a corporation and looking for an enterprise solution, this is a fantastic tool to help your team become more productive.
