Fish Out Of Water – Fun iOS Game, Very Pricey In App Purchases (Video)

Fling your way across the ocean as you play Fish out of Water, the new Halfbrick Studios iOS game. Fish Out Of Water features 6 different fish that you fling to see how many skips you can get and how far you can go. You are judged at the end of each game by a scrupulous set of crabby judges.

Fish Out Of Water is absolutely a fun game, but soon becomes repetitive. I am a big fan of Halfbrick Studios, developers of many hit games like Fruit Ninja: Puss in Boots, Age of Zombies, and others. But Halfbrick Studios has made a mistake with Fish Out Of Water!

Halfbrick sells Fish Out Of Water as a paid iOS game, but really has a free-to-play game model. Why? Users are awarded crystals after leveling up by completing 3 achievements. The charms enhance the gameplay, which reduces the repetitiveness. However, leveling up becomes increasingly harder and the charms don’t provide that much game enhancement. But the real kicker is the price of the in app purchases (IAP). There are currently 3 items to purchase through IAP: 1) Change the color of your league name $0.99, 2) Enormous Crystal Pack $14.99, and 3) Large Crystal Pack $4.99.

I surely would have made an IAP for a crystal pack priced at $0.99, but there is no option for this. Most people expect to play a game without having to spend a bunch of money when buying a paid app. Unfortunately, Fish Out of Water does not provide that experience!

Fish Out of Water is a fun, well made game, but lacks game depth and has a grotesque in app purchase model!
